I went to work today to run tournament poker. I expected 65 players I got 96. It went quite smoothly. Mark Runz was there working the back of the room and he gave me a few pointers. It is great to work in a place you have some great senior floormen and great shift bosses to study under. It went off well and tomorrow I will be expecting over 120. I hope to break the record for all time entries. I am really having a good time in tournament poker.
I played some MTTs and some double ups. There were some heart breakers I lost that I wish I could have back. My bankroll is now down to $309. Tonight I will continue to work the program. When Richie and Less get back with the pizzas I will dine and then check my online dating and then play. I am looking to get back on track tonight.
In online dating I had a good day. When I woke up I got a response to one of my response. The girl is a 31 year old Asian who seems to have a good job and not to much baggage. Now I might be beat up, banged and bruised, but I do not have baggage. As time goes on I am beginning to forgive myself for my failed marriage and not handling the miscarriage well. I start to realize each day that I am not blameless nor am I all to blame. One fact that I take solace in is that my ex wife is probably in a better spot now then she would be if we had not been married to me. I hope she meets a nice man and has the big family she wants. The good six years she gave me I will not forget. If I ever found out that a guy was abusing her I would bring in a bad ass from Detroit who owes me a favor and have him end the guy with a Dur aflame log and an ash tray. If you ever lived in Providence you would get the reference.
To get back to the point of the story it was the first Saturday in May, Kentucky Derby Day. I had never really seen a horse race until then. This was on wide world of sports so we were watching it at the reception. It is the race which made me fall in love with horse racing and in turn was my gateway drug into the gaming industry. I will never forget Shoemaker putting a 17-1 shot named Ferdinand through a hole that was not their. Dave Johnson's call of down the stretch they come made the whole day. After that I learned how to read the form and later started betting in my mid teens at Wonderland Greyhound Park and Suffolk downs. I soon shifted gears to underground poker due to the high rake in parimutuel racing. The rest is history now I am a poker guy in a suit in Las Vegas getting ready to pierce the membrane that is middle age. I have included a link to The 1986 Derby on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khVKgCT1p7w
