Return To Tournament Poker After a 5 Year Hiatus.

Today I ran a Poker Tournament for the first time since 2006.  It was not a big tournament, but their was no software to know and I had very few internal audits and controls back then.  Their have been several changes to procedure and TDA rules,  but I felt quite comfortable.  Now their are going to be some adjustments that I will make as I go.  Such as when to make my drop,  my announcements.  which seats to hold out during registration.  I will be doing it again tomorrow and then again by myself on Friday and Saturday.  Today I only had 48 players on Superbowl weekend I expect more.
I played no brick and mortar poker today do to my early start.   I am however going to play online tonight.  The game of choice is going to be some form of turbo MTT.  I am going to try and fix some leaks and return to the winners circle.  I will not blame races and suck outs.  I win my share of races  and lay my beats on folks.  I think I need to make more min raises in late position when no one has opened rather then the traditional 3x - 5x raises.  I think I am willing to die to early with AQ preflop all in to early.  I will try to adjust and see if I make some improvements.  My bankroll is at about $330.
As far as online dating goes. I am going to tell you about the results of an experiment I did about three months ago.  I set up two fake profiles on Match.com, both females one attractive one very unattractive.  I made their written profile very similar.  They both got alot of hits and they were surprisingly close in volume.  After this I created two fake male profiles.  One with an attractive guy and one guy who was over weight and   not attractive.  They both got very few responses.  This says to me that women are far more selective then men.
One other technique I used to use was to find a girl I thought was cute.  Take her picture and profile and create a fake match.com profile set in a city far away and wait for the responses to come in.  I would then take the best responses and use them as my own via cut and paste.  I had some success, but not enough to make it worth my while.  You had to create fake email accounts and remember passwords and screen names.
I decided this was insane behavior and decided to write my own copy.  It might not be great, but it is mine.
Here is one my handcrafted responses I will share with you before I head off to The Cyber Felt Jungle.

Girls Profile:

Just fishing. Will you bite?
Fishing, eh? So am I. I'm a upbeat, smart, former East-Coaster. I'm passionate about new experiences and will try anything once. (Even sweetbreads). I'm social, like meeting new people and and trying new things. I'm balanced in my personal, social and work life, and think there's always icing on the cupcake somewhere.. So what do I look for in my guy? A smart, sexy, positive guy, with a head on his shoulders, that can make me laugh, but can also hold a conversation. I'm looking for a balanced person - I'm low-drama, so I hate being upstaged by my man! I'm up for almost anything for on a first date. Hiking, a bar, a festival, an event, or just coffee. Mostly, I'm looking for someone that is as enthusiastic about life as I am; is it you?

Good Evening
happyhappyemily,
Wow I think we have a lot in common. I also am from the east coast. You say you like trying new things, maybe you could try my favorite sushi bar. I agree with you on desire for balance in life. One of my philosiphies in life is that their is a time and place for everything and that you should work hard, but play even harder. I also am looking for a person that has ideas of their own and can beat a conversation with a paper bag. I also enjoy hiking. What is your favorite trail in Red Rock? Have you been to the San Gennaro festival? I think mini golf and In an Out is The best first date. It is low pressure and alot of fun. I hope it is me. By the way that picture of you with the mountain in the back ground where was that taken.
Jonathan
